Milestone in Sustainable Operations: Advancing Water Stewardship in Mexico
In a decisive step toward more sustainable operations, Vetrotex has reached a major milestone in water management at its Mexico site. Since late 2024, Vetrotex has significantly expanded the operation of its water-recycling line, reinforcing its commitment to responsible resource use and environmental protection.
By the end of 2025, 44% of treated water was successfully recycled. This achievement translated into a 26% reduction in freshwater extraction. Beyond conserving freshwater resources, this progress has also contributed to lowering effluent discharge and reducing the site’s overall impact on biodiversity.
Despite the recent actualization of the discharge water quality parameter by -60%, the aim to reduce water consumption prevails as top priority for the site. These results are the outcome of a long-term, multi-million-euro investment plan launched in 2021. The program was designed to modernize water infrastructure, expand treatment capacity, and deploy advanced recycling technologies across the site. Through infrastructure upgrades and the integration of innovative water-reuse systems, Vetrotex has strengthened both operational resilience and environmental performance.
This milestone marks an important step in Vetrotex’s broader sustainability roadmap. Building on this momentum, the company remains committed to further reducing freshwater withdrawals, with the ambition of achieving a 50% reduction by 2030.
By combining strategic investment, technological innovation, and operational excellence, Vetrotex’s Mexico operations demonstrate how industrial performance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, creating lasting value for both the business and the ecosystems on which it depends.
