aint-Gobain
Vetrotex glass products can be used in other various processes and
applications:
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |

This process consists of winding a
sheet made of a glass filament tape on an electrical conductor to
provide insulation resistance. The tapes are often produced on narrow
looms, large fabrics can be also cut in narrow bands. 5/7/9µm
(D,E;G) Saint-Gobain Vetrotex yarns
sized with T3F, T32K/M, T30G/K/M , T8G and even TD22G are recommended
for this process.

Electrical cables can be reinforced by feeding
glass filament yarns during the pultrusion process. This provides
the required dimensional stability for the end product. Saint-Gobain
Vetrotex 9µm(G)
68 and 136 yarns sized with T8G are generally used.
TD22G yarns impart dimensional stability to optical cable.
Sheet of glass filament yarn can be also laminated with a plastic
film to produce outstanding adhesives tapes.

Single glass filament yarns are impregnated
with a resorcinol formaldehyde latex to promote adhesion to rubber.
Then the impregnated yarns are transformed by plying in a cord that
will be used to reinforce timing belts. This imparts the required
mechanical properties and dimensional stability. EC9
110 Z20 T6G H8 (G45 1/0 0.5Z) yarn suits perfectly the requirements
for this application.

Sheet or textile structures made of glass
filaments products can be laminated with various substrates. Major
application are paper reinforcement, flooring, adhesive tapes, vapor
barrier facing (glass filament structure laminated with aluminum foil),
pressure sensitive insulation tapes. Saint-Gobain Vetrotex glass filament
yarns provide the laminated products outstanding mechanical and thermal
characteristics. The high tensile strength of T6G/M,
5310C, 876s sized yarns suits the requirements for lamination
applications.
